When I was a toddler, my father would occasionally stick a camcoder in my face and say "Mainala, tell us a story". I've been telling stories since.
After studying video production and digital storytelling in Cape Town, I went on to be selected for Multichoice's flagship programme, the Multichoice Talent Factory. I have training and experience in scripting, producing, directing, shooting and editing in both fiction and non-fiction productions. My most noteworthy experience came this year as a Casting assistant, production manager and offline editor on Savannah Skies, a made for TV film commissioned by an M-net Channel. I graduated top of my class and was awarded a workshop at the New York Film Academy in 2020.
A real asset on set, I'm a problem solver and a well rounded team player who brings passion and professionalism to the productions I work on. I'm an auteur director in the making who aims to tell stories that change the African narrative, and challenge mindsets about identity and the human condition.
