BIOGRAPHY- ABU IDDRIS

Abubakar Iddrisu Moro, known as Abu Iddris “the cinegod”, was born on 24th November 1986 in Kumasi to Mr. IDDRISU IMORO and Madam YAHTSU MOHAMMED. I grew and attained his basic education ( Junior High) in Kumasi Aboabo no. 1, and graduated in 2001 at age 15.
I relocated to the north of GHANA, precisely BAWKU in the Upper East  region with my father, that being the first time in my hometown. There, I enrolled in  a Senior High school and studied BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION, a course of no passion of mine. I rode with the tide, contested and won the assistant senior prefect and graduated in 2005. In 2006 I relocated to Greater Accra to live with with mum to continue my education. It was a tough time but mum was willing to try since age and sickness had slowed dad down. I then enrolled for a YEAR CERTIFICATE course - CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN COURSE ONE (CTC1), since my grades will not allow me read an HND program in the Polytechnic. Studying BUILDING & CONSTRUCTION became a bitter pill for me at this moment because I realized there was no iota of interest for me in that field. By this time, I had already discovered my passion for acting and stand up comedy. My childhood friends will attest me being a very jovial character all of my teenage years. However, turning my passion into a profession was a hard decision as my mum wouldn't buy that idea. So he had to begin the journey without my mother's knowledge or approval. I would skip  lectures to go for stage performances and rehearsals. Gradually, I got into my passion more than ever. The course ended after a year. Though I have passed and had a certificate , it was time for part 2 of the same course and this would require a lot of support to enable me enroll for HND in BUILDING TECHNOLOGY, a field I had no interest or desire to further. I abandoned that field and started pursuing my passion. I went from theatre performances to stand up comedy and started writing and directing for stage, and then to screen. I fell deeper in love with filmmaking and started learning everything about filmmaking, watched a lots movies, experimented on all necessary aspects of filmmaking. To me then , endless passion met endless practicals. 

In 2010 I enrolled in GHALLYWOOD FILM ACADEMY where I studied a short course relating to filmmaking which lasted 6 months. There, I graduated as the best directing-student for the first batch  of trainees. I went ahead practising while lecturing  the third batch of trainees at GHALLYWOOD. At this point, I had shot two student feature films; "WHO’S NEXT?" and "A WEEK LATE." 

In 2012 I got a job with Sparrow Productions to learn and work as the ASSISTANT DIRECTOR to SHIRLEY FRIMPONG MANSO. This was the beginning of the real challenge as I got to work with a lot of top stars in the industry. I grew through the process and acquired so much practical experience as a filmmmaker. After four years with Sparrows Productions, I started accepting contracts from other filmmakers. Work with Sparrows became contractual and only when I was available. 

I registered and started my own production company, CINE-GOD STUDIOS. I collaborated with a few productions on a few jobs for two years. My love for challenge and growth pushed me to try genres not often attempted from this side of the world.

written, directed, edited with most visual effects and cinematography done by Abu iddris.

Abu Iddris got a few nominations in Ghana and Africa in the last three years. These include,

WON BEST FILM - LONDON C.HUBBCA AWARDS 2016. His film also won best producer and best actor. 

NOMINATED FOR BEST EDITOR - GHANA MOVIE AWARDS 2016. 

NOMINTED BEST EPIC DIRECTOR - UOLLYWOOD FILM AWARDS 2017. 

NOMINATED - BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY and BEST PICTURE, GHANA MOVIE AWARDS 2018, 

I am still learning and I have not started making films yet since i have not made any film exactly as I would want it to be due to lack of relevant resources . So far I get on a job, use what is available and make it happen. I believe with time and good funding, I will make that film the world is waiting for from #THECINEGOD !
