The nominees’ list for the 92nd Oscars has been released. “Joker” leads the pack with 11 nominations, while “The Irishman“, “1917” and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” follows with 10 nominations each. We are honestly proud of Cynthia Erivo who got her first Oscars nomination for the category of Lead Actress in the film, “Harriet”.
Joker leads the Bafta film nominations with 11, but there is criticism that the acting nominees are all white. Joker is followed by Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood, which have 10 nominations each.
As with a lot of industries in Nigeria, there are not a lot of women who are filmmakers in the Nollywood space. This means that when there are a few women making a mark in their industry, they should be celebrated. The women on this list are not only producers, but they also wear or have at some point, worn a lot of caps in the media space.
