From Gabarone, Botswana, Serena is an up and coming screenwriter and director. With a bachelor of arts in digital film and television and a passion for filmmaking. “Coming from Botswana, I aim to show the world that we are more than just wild animals and beautiful landscape, that there is more to us as a people, as a community. I aim to create stories that radiate our cultural vibrancy, dynamics and our amazing ability to adapt to and assimilate other cultures of the world.” Gearing up to join the Multichoice Talent Factory, Serena says, she’s hoping to “build a network with other creative and innovative minds at the talent factory in order to grow our entertainment industry”.
Excited to one day contribute substantially to the film industry of Botswana and the content, Serena says, “We are currently living in a generation where the global market is saturated with Western and Asian content, and now the market is hungry for African stories. And this is where we African creatives come in to fill the gap. Doors are open, opportunities are vast, and the industry is yet to boom.”
